Sore Throat
Adults and children aged five years and over can access support through our Pharmacy First service if they are experiencing a sore throat accompanied by a fever. Our pharmacist and team are here to assess your symptoms and provide appropriate advice or treatment.

About Sore Throats
A pharmacist can assess your symptoms and recommend effective ways to relieve the pain and discomfort of a sore throat. This may include:
- Paracetamol or ibuprofen
- Medicated lozenges containing a local anaesthetic, antiseptic or anti-inflammatory ingredient
- Anaesthetic throat sprays (though evidence of their effectiveness is limited)
Where appropriate, the pharmacist may also provide further treatment without the need to see a GP.
