Sinusitis
Sinusitis is the painful swelling of the sinus cavities, commonly triggered by an infection. Although a common ailment, it typically resolves within a month. However, if symptoms persist, medication can aid in a speedier recovery. Don't suffer in silence, seek treatment to help alleviate sinus discomfort.

Sore Throat
Sore throats are a frequent occurrence, but usually not a cause for concern. With time, they typically resolve on their own, lasting no longer than a week. So, there's no need to fret when the discomfort hits. Our pharmacy first service can help you to speedily recover.

Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs)
Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are usually caused by bacteria from poo entering the urinary tract. The bacteria enter through the tube that carries pee out of the body (urethra). Women have a shorter urethra than men. This means bacteria are more likely to reach the bladder or kidneys and cause an infection.

About Pharmacy First

Pharmacy First allows you to receive many of the same treatments you would normally be offered by a GP. It is a convenient, accessible NHS service where you can receive professional advice, support and, when appropriate, medication for a range of common conditions.
How Can Pharmacy First Save You Time?
Pharmacy First gives you fast access to a healthcare professional when you need it most.

Instead of waiting for a GP appointment, visiting A&E or using out-of-hours services, you can simply walk into your local pharmacy and have a private consultation with a trained pharmacist.
What Are the Benefits of Pharmacy First?
  • Enables you to self-treat minor ailments with expert guidance
  • Reduces waiting times and pressure on GP surgeries
  • Provides quick access to clinical advice and appropriate treatment
  • Offers a convenient alternative to A&E and urgent care services
Pharmacists are highly trained healthcare professionals with a wide range of clinical skills. They can assess your symptoms, provide accurate advice and supply medication when suitable.

If your condition requires GP involvement, the pharmacist can refer you to the appropriate healthcare professional.
Who Is Eligible for Pharmacy First?
The Pharmacy First service is available only to patients in England.
Do I Need to Show Proof of Prescription Exemption?
If you are exempt from prescription charges, you should provide evidence during your consultation. This is required if the pharmacist recommends any medication to treat your symptoms.
What Will the Pharmacist Ask During My Consultation?
To give you the right care, the pharmacist will ask about:
  • Your current symptoms
  • Your medical history
  • Any other health concerns you may be experiencing
This information helps the pharmacist determine the most appropriate treatment or medicine for you.
